Step #1 – Meet with clergy at least six months prior to your proposed wedding day.
Your priest or deacon will help you with the marriage preparation process by:
– discussing your plans,
– having you complete a Pre-Nuptial Investigation form to begin the process, identify any impediments, permissions or dispensations that may be needed, and help locate sacramental records,
– and have productive counseling sessions guided by a Marriage Inventory (e.g. FOCCUS, Fully-Engaged, Prepare & Enrich, etc.).
Step #2 – Complete a Marriage Preparation / Pre-Cana Program.
The Archdiocese of St Louis’ Office of Marriage & Family Life has a list of approved Marriage Preparation Programs, including this site, others located here, as well as some local parishes provide Parish Marriage Preparation Mentor programs.
Step #3 – Complete one introductory course on one method of Natural Family Planning (NFP).
Information about Natural Family Planning, methods, classes, and NAPRO-OBGYN providers can be found through the Office of Natural Family planning at the site located here.
Step #4 – Liturgical planning, that is to select your readings and prayers for your wedding day, is the final step.
Your priest or deacon will assist you with the liturgical planning prior to you wedding day.
